PolocrosseThe GamePolocrosse is a growing horse sport in the UK and is played throughout the world. There are six players per team who play in two sections that play alternate 'chukkas' of six minutes. Contrary to polo, you are only allowed to play on one horse during a competition. The polocrosse racquet is about a metre long with a head similar to the size of an old-fashioned squash racquet with a deep net in which to catch and carry the ball. The pitch is 146.5 metres long and 55 metres wide (about the same size of a rugby pitch) and is divided into 3 areas. To play the game you need to develop 'stick and ball' skills such as picking up, throwing and catching and bouncing the ball. At lower levels, any horse or pony can enjoy the game but at higher levels, the horses play at great speed and have the agility and training to stop and turn on a sixpence.
